Dismissal/Arrival: Please follow the stairwell assignments and times for dismissal. Dismissal improved with each day, but we need to maintain fidelity to the system in place. Please make sure you account for all of your students at dismissal. While we are all tired at the end of the day and ready to head home, we need to make sure children are safe before leaving.
Facebook Page: Please share our school's Facebook page with parents. It is an easy way for them to check in and see what is happening. PS 201 Facebook
Math Deficit Assessment: Please administer the Common Core Benchmark Assessment on September 12 and 13 during your math blocks. Please read the memo I sent you for details.
Meet the Teacher Night: Meet the Teacher Night is scheduled for Monday, September 17th. These will be group (not individual family) meetings and you will receive the schedule this week.
Class Dojo: This is an excellent platform to share with parents student progress and strengthen classroom participation. We recommend that you use class Dojo for instructional purposes. You can watch the introduction video around how to utilize class Dojo in your classroom
Kinvolved App: As a school, it is mandated that we utilize the Kinvolved App to record attendance. Please note that you must take attendance between 8:15 and 8:20 every day by marking the students "late" and sharing the results with parents by clicking save and send button. Turn the "late" to "Absent" and save and send at 8:40 am. Click on the following links to download Instructions around how to utilize Kinvolved.
Remind App: we use the remind app to communicate with parents school-wide events and announcements. Please ask parents to text @ps201 to 81010 to subscribe. They can also send an email to email@example.com to receive messages via email.
Summer Per Session: If you worked during the summer, all per session is due to Alice by September 14th. No summer per session sheets will be accepted after this deadline.
Budget: This year, our budget is extremely tight. We won't be able to purchase large orders until register adjustments are completed in late October. We appreciate your patience while we navigate these times of fiscal crisis.
Primary Election: Just a reminder that In accordance with State Law, the Board of Elections of the City of New York will use our school’s Gymnasium on Tuesday, September 13th, 2018 from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. or until the close of canvas. More details to follow.
Lexia Training: Our Lexia training will take place on October 1st, 2018.
School Calendar Access: All of our school events are posted on our live calendar. Please check it often. You must be signed in to our PS 201 staff page to access it. 2018-2019 School Calendar
Personal Day Requests: If you need to take a personal day, whether full day or half, you must submit via the online form. Responses to requests will go out at the end of each week. You must give fair notice when requesting personal days. The form can be accessed on the right hand side of this blog or by clicking here: Personal Day Requests. Please note that in order to access the form, you must be logged out of your personal gmail account. To check if you are logged out of your gmail account, please type "www.google.com" on the top right corner, check to see if you are logged in under your personal e-mail account by clicking on your initial. You can either add your ps201 google account by clicking on the ""add account" button or sign out of your personal account and sign back in under your ps201 google account. DOE Outlook Email: All DOE and PS 201 employees are expected to check their Outlook email at least once within a 24 hour period. Please make sure that you can access your email and that you are able to do so during the school day.
Go Bags: Please remember to send classes with their go bags whenever they leave their classroom. This includes lunch, recess, assemblies, and any classes scheduled elsewhere in the building. Email your immediate supervisor if you are missing go bags or any of their contents.
Hallways: During instructional periods, students should not be allowed to leave the classroom for any reason other than going to the bathroom with a bathroom pass or if they are requested from the main office. We now have school aides stationed on the second and third floors all day by the restrooms. We want to maximize instructional time students receive and ensure the safety of our students at all times.
Branding: As I stated during our September 4th PD, please join our branding contest! Anyone who comes with the best idea will win a price. As a faculty, we will vote to determine the winner of the contest.
Upgrades: We will start painting the walls in the hallways and removing ancient pictures/art and replacing them with more modern art and pictures of our students and staff that tell the story of our school and speak about our vision. We will start with the first floor.
