Training for Paraprofessionals on Supporting Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD): The DOE, in partnership with the Regional Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders (RCASD), is offering training for paraprofessionals who work with students with autism, on June 7 (Anniversary Day, a non-attendance day for students). The training will focus on ways to increase and support social skills for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), strategies for promoting student independence, and tips on creating visual supports for students in the classroom and at home. Attendees will receive two, Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE)-eligible hours upon completion of the training. The training will be held at two locations from 8:30–11:00 a.m., and 11:30 a.m.–2:00 p.m. on June 7:
§ At NYU Langone Child Study Center (One Park Avenue in Manhattan); and
§ At New Dorp High School (465 New Dorp Lane on Staten Island).
